Registered Occupational Therapist (OT)
About The Position
Life Care Centers of America facilities operate as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that provide long-term care for residents requiring ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance, as well as short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. We utilize a collaborative care approach through an interdisciplinary team, including nursing, therapy, and medical staff working together. Our diverse patient population includes individuals with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs. As a therapy professional, you will help patients achieve functional progress and improve quality of life within a supportive, patient-centered environment. The OT - Occupational Therapist provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Requirements
- NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward
- Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT)
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
- Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Responsibilities
- Follow occupational treatment plans for patients (i.e., activities of daily living)
- Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals
- Oversee and evaluate care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students
- Chart appropriately and timely
- Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
- Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
