About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical (Telemetry) department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintaining continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is a 386-bed, Magnet-designated hospital and recognized clinical leader with a full range of specialties. It is an Advanced Level III Trauma Facility, an accredited Chest Pain Center, and has received Disease Specific Care Certifications from The Joint Commission. The Medical Surgical Telemetry unit has 29 beds and cares for medical-surgical patients and those on cardiac telemetry, including post-cath management and some cardiac drips. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5, occasionally up to 6 on night shifts.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – upon hire – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
  • ACLS -within 90 days required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 60 days of hire
  • 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • One (1) year of RN experience in Med/surg Tele strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • BCLS – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
  • One (1) year of RN experience in Med/surg Tele strongly preferred
