The Registered Nurse works in the 28-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Texas Health Fort Worth, providing intermediate-level care to a wide range of medical patients. The unit has a 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio and cares for patients with conditions including diabetic ketoacidosis, respiratory compromise requiring specialized equipment and interventions, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology conditions, GI bleeds, renal or liver failure, acid-base and electrolyte imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities. Medication management includes continuous and titratable IV medications. The RN delivers care using the Nursing Process: assessing patients, planning and providing care, and evaluating interventions. The role includes applying age-specific safety and infection-control measures, responding to patients’ and significant others’ information needs, and maintaining continuity of care across shifts, hospitals, and out-of-hospital transfers. This is a full-time night position at Texas Health Fort Worth, with 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The department offers self-scheduling, educational and career growth opportunities, a Unit Based Council, and an engaged leadership team.
