About The Position

The Registered Nurse at the Fayetteville Heart Center uses initiative and independent judgment to plan and implement professional nursing care for patients in accordance with clinic policies. The nurse may assume supervisory responsibilities as assigned and assists physicians as directed. This is a part-time, day-shift position at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or licensure in a Compact state.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding.
• Six months of work experience in a physician's office in a medical support role.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Positive interpersonal skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective organizational and leadership skills.
• Speech and auditory acuity sufficient to communicate patient needs.
• Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to observe patients.
• Ability to perform substantial standing, stooping, kneeling, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to work under mental and physical stress.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Triage experience.
• Experience and proficiency with IV initiation and administration, phlebotomy, home glucose monitor use, and EKGs.

Responsibilities

• Administer and record treatments, medications, and therapy as prescribed by a physician.
• Assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Perform supervisory functions as assigned.
• Maintain an accurate and relevant record of patient care and contact for each visit and phone interaction.
• Assist clerical and reception staff with ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding input for billing and the computer center.
• Recognize life-threatening situations and respond appropriately.
• Monitor quality of care using pre-established, outcome-oriented indicators.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
