About The Position

The Clinic RN utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to care for patients. The role includes administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and applicable state laws and practice acts. The nurse assesses, plans, intervenes, evaluates and documents care according to standards. The RN develops and carries out individualized patient plans of care as prescribed by a physician and/or clinic policy, including instruction for patients and families, and uses available resources to provide education at an appropriate level of understanding. The RN helps resolve system breakdowns, contributes to solutions, and participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance. The position provides clinical expertise and guidance to other units and departments in support of patients’ longitudinal plans of care. It also requires critical thinking about patient safety and experience, appropriate escalation through the chain of command, participation in nursing practice and peer review processes, and support for a positive professional and organizational environment. The RN engages in personal development and system learning opportunities, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. Illinois nurses must complete 10 hours of continuing education as required for licensure.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.
Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
May require specific years of applicable experience according to department guidelines.
Other certifications may be required according to department requirements, such as ACLS, PALS, PEARS, or NRP.
May include a color-blind test according to department guidelines.

Participate in the professional nursing continuum, unit or department practice activities and decisions, and peer review.
Positively influence the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
Engage in personal development and support continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
Complete 10 hours of continuing education for Illinois licensure, when applicable.
