Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) guides and encourages each supervised employee to attain maximum performance on the job, providing ongoing feedback. The RN performs treatment and provides care to consumers per MD orders and accepted Nursing Standard of Practice guidelines. Some positions may function as a lead worker for other staff. The RN analyzes data from screening procedures to determine appropriate treatment services, performs Nursing Assessments using appropriate interview techniques to obtain pertinent health/substance abuse history, and conducts head-to-toe physical exams and visual assessments of the body. Documentation of pertinent information in records is required to be accurate and timely. The RN administers medications/vaccines accurately and safely within agency guidelines, performs treatments and provides preventative maintenance care to consumers per MD orders and accepted Nursing Standard of Practice guidelines. Based on MD/RN input and information, the RN determines the appropriate level of care for CSP, performs appropriate lab studies per venipuncture, and monitors, records, and reports symptoms and changes in consumer's conditions in a timely manner. The RN communicates and treats consumers with respect, dignity, and tact, and educates consumers regarding disease process, diagnoses, medications, and other aspects of care and treatment. The RN consistently and accurately transcribes and implements physician's orders and documents all consumer information. The RN maintains accurate tracking/logs including but not limited to Non-Admit Log, Referral Log, TB, Physical, Report Board, and Roster, and maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records. The RN makes appropriate referrals to available resources for consumers not admitted, maintains safety and security on the unit at all times, and reports any consumer abnormalities or changes in status in a timely manner. The RN must maintain accurate and timely documentation.
