About The Position

The registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned patient, regardless of age from infancy through geriatrics, and provides care consistent with Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies and procedures. The nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and quality patient care, and contributes to a healthy professional practice environment through involvement in unit-based and hospital shared governance councils.

Using National Professional Nursing Standards as guidelines, the registered nurse applies critical-thinking and clinical-reasoning skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The nurse collaborates with the interprofessional team to enhance patient outcomes and serves as a role model through continuous professional development and lifelong learning. The Nursing Process is the framework for providing care.

This position is at the Blankenbaker Free Standing Emergency Department. It is a part-time, weekends-only day-shift role scheduled for 24 hours weekly. Registered nurses may perform other duties, and specific functions may change as professional practice and standards evolve.

Requirements

• Active Kentucky RN License.
• BCLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments.
• Develop plans of care using appropriate evidence-based standards of care.
• Provide care consistent with policies, procedures, current evidence-based professional standards of practice, and Baptist Health Louisville’s nursing mission, vision, values, and model of care.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment.
• Apply critical-thinking, clinical-reasoning, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Promote positive patient outcomes and quality patient care.
• Participate in unit-based and hospital shared governance councils.
• Collaborate with the interprofessional team to enhance patient outcomes.
• Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
