About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Detroit Medical Center is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families, applying independent judgment and communicating and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

The position is associated with Children’s Hospital of Michigan, an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. The hospital provides surgical services, advanced diagnostic imaging, emergency and trauma care, pediatric burn care, critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine at its Detroit and Troy hospitals and six ambulatory sites.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
• Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
