Relocation assistance for eligible candidates! This position is for a New Advanced Acute Care unit with 32 private rooms. Candidates are sought who are willing to learn, grow and build a very dynamic new nursing unit. The role involves the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. It requires directing and guiding patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel, providing direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure. The role also includes completing assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards, addressing physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care, and formulating, coordinating, and providing a plan of care as established in unit standards. This includes patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team. Evaluation of the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revision of the plan of care based upon patient response to interventions is also key. The role initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and takes action to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs. Assignments are made in collaboration with other team members and directed/altered in response to changes in patient situations. Teamwork is promoted by delegating tasks to team members based on skill, expertise, time availability, acuity, and needs of the patient. Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and taking corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment are expected. Participation in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice, active participation as a team member working toward team goals, and accountability for unit and system-specific metrics are also required. Support and participation in initiatives that support the Magnet mission, and active participation in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety are expected.
