About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for their 13 West Oncology Unit. This role involves delivering outstanding patient-centered care to individuals living with cancer throughout all phases of their cancer experience. The Oncology team provides a full range of support, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and palliative and supportive care. Oncology nurses act as the first line of communication, coordinating and delivering aspects of patient treatment, such as administering medications, fluids, and cancer treatments like chemotherapy. They are dedicated to assisting patients during their treatment journey. Humber River Health is North America's first fully digital hospital, committed to changing healthcare through technology and clinical expertise, serving a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto. Requirements

  • Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certification
  • 2 years recent experience in oncology
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team, patients, family members and visitors
  • Demonstrated good patient assessment skills
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset

Nice To Haves

  • CNA certification in Oncology Nursing is preferred
  • Current DeSouza course in Oncology Foundations, preferred
  • Current DeSouza Oncology Chemotherapy/Biotherapy, preferred
  • Current Oncology and or Palliative specialty designation from CNA, preferred
  • Patient assessment course preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administration of Chemotherapy (teaching and certification provided)
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required
  • Resource/team leader responsibilities
  • Preceptorship of nursing students and Mentorship of new nursing staff
