Registered Nurse - Inpatient Behavioral Health - Part Time
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care at St. Mary's inpatient behavioral health facility, a 20-bed unit that helps patients with problem solving and safety planning and connects them to programs and resources for ongoing mental health and substance use conditions. The nurse assesses patients, develops and revises individualized plans of care, and communicates with the interdisciplinary team to meet patient and family needs. This position is part time, 24 hours per week, with rotating day and night 12-hour shifts and work every other weekend and holiday.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered clinical care.
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments using appropriate physical, psychological, educational, and risk-screen data for the patient's chronological and developmental age.
- Communicate and document patient assessments with the interdisciplinary team, using available resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Develop and document individualized plans of care, treatment, and services appropriate to patients' needs, strengths, limitations, and goals.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, including those governing safety, medication administration, and documentation.
- Revise plans of care based on ongoing evaluations and update documentation appropriately.
- Complete at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for the Nursing Research Department, using a research article from the previous five years about research conducted in the United States.
- Complete at least five nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
- Complete mandatory in-services and health screens in a timely manner.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
