About The Position

Suncoast Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a caring and motivated Hospice Care Center Registered Nurse PRN to provide compassionate hospice care to terminally ill patients and their families in an inpatient setting at its Care Center in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The RN identifies and coordinates patient and family needs, provides preventive and supportive care, assesses needs, manages symptoms, and uses intervention and teaching skills to maximize comfort and quality of life. The role also includes providing education and support to families and overseeing LPNs and aides in the general inpatient care environment. The RN reports to the Patient/Family Care Coordinator/Care Center Manager and is required to float if needed. The schedule is a night shift from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Requirements

At least 1 year of recent bedside nursing experience.
At least 1 year of current active nursing experience.
Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
Valid Florida State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

Experience caring for terminally ill patients or patients with life-threatening illnesses is preferred.
One year of experience in an acute or post-acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify and coordinate patient and family needs.
Provide preventive and supportive care to terminally ill patients and their families.
Use assessment, intervention, and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and quality of life.
Manage symptoms and provide education and support to patients and families.
Oversee and supervise LPNs and/or aides delivering patient care in the GIP environment.
Float to other assignments if needed.
