About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 7W Medical Oncology unit. This unit is an inviting and welcoming environment for both patients and staff, featuring 17 mostly private rooms. The nursing staff is highly skilled in caring for oncology, end-of-life, and medical-surgical patients. Registered Nurses on this unit administer chemotherapy, assist in symptom management of cancer and other illnesses, provide end-of-life care, and perform various other nursing skills. RNs collaborate closely with other medical disciplines to ensure excellent patient care and outcomes. The unit is equipped with the latest technology, including a new virtual nursing program. An active educator supports the nursing staff, and nurses receive continuing education to stay current with best practice guidelines. The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing the care of patients experiencing medical conditions or surgical procedures. This includes assessing patient condition, administering medications, changing dressings, monitoring vital signs, keeping records, and providing patient and family support and education. The Registered Nurse must maintain a wide array of medical care knowledge to care for a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
  • RN license active in the state of Missouri
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Previous nursing experience
