About The Position

UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Spine Specialty department for the night shift at UC Medical Center. This unit will focus on Neuro-Spine surgeries such as spinal decompression surgeries (laminectomies, microdiscectomies), spinal fusions, spinal reconstruction, and cervical spine surgeries. University of Cincinnati Medical Center, as part of the Clifton Campus of UC Health, is Greater Cincinnati's academic health system with nearly 200 years of service. It serves hundreds of thousands of patients annually with world-renowned clinicians and advanced medical knowledge and technology. UC Medical Center is home to medical breakthroughs through physician expert research and offers Greater Cincinnati's only Level I adult trauma center. UC Health is increasing nursing pay rates by 14% over the next three years and increasing differential pay.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate’s Degree, the minimum required
  • Current OH RN License
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time-frame indicated by the unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates the ability to establish priorities of care based on the patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • The nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
