About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse is responsible for helping maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and bringing a diverse medical skillset to patient care. The position is in Med/Surg Unit 3 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital and is scheduled for 24 hours per week on afternoon/night shifts.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of RN experience is required.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification is preferred upon hire and must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• BLS certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status using strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions.
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, document in charts, and assess patient condition.
• Evaluate, update, and revise the plan of care to facilitate planned and expected outcomes.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
