About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Joseph Warren Hospital delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role involves assessing patient status, implementing clinical nursing interventions, developing and carrying out patient care plans to improve outcomes, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team and provides care in accordance with applicable state requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

• One year of RN experience.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification is preferred upon hire; it must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and condition.
• Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions.
• Develop, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to support planned and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs and administer IV medications.
• Document and understand patient charting.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Help ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
