Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg, Full-Time, Days
About The Position
UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Medical Surgical Department. This is a 100% onsite position for someone based in the greater Chicagoland area. With the leadership of the Manager, the Registered Nurse serves as an interactive resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. The role coordinates and performs direct nursing care using the nursing process, provides resources and mentorship to physicians, peers, and other employees, and participates in supervising Patient Care Team Members in collaboration with the Patient Manager. The position is full-time at 0.9 FTE, with a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The role is union represented and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree in Nursing or higher.
- Current RN licensure from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or a valid temporary permit to practice nursing in Illinois.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Acute care or related experience providing nursing care to patients within at least the last five years.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patients’ plans of care and outcomes.
- Provide complex nursing care and delegate tasks to other Care Team members according to unit-specific competencies and patient age-related needs.
- Monitor the quality of patient care and patient satisfaction.
- Pursue professional development opportunities independently.
- Help ensure the Patient Care Center’s daily operations are effective and efficient.
- Work within accepted service standards and support the Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
- Partner with patient care team members to identify and meet the needs of patients, families, and physicians, using appropriate customer relations.
- Support the philosophy, mission, and Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Follow corporate compliance requirements and communicate issues to appropriate parties.
