About The Position

The Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE)/Alternate Level of Care Unit (ALC) – West 4 is a 36-bed unit specializing in geriatric medical patients with acute and non-acute needs. This role involves providing compassionate, patient-centered care to older adults with complex medical and ALC needs. The nurse will work alongside an interdisciplinary team in a welcoming environment that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life. The unit offers in-house rehabilitation, engaging patient activities, and strong community involvement. This is a Level I Registered Nurse position for new Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) graduates completing the Nursing Practice Orientation Program with 6 months or less of clinical experience post licensure. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Level I nurse is accountable for direct patient care using the nursing process, supporting peers, and contributing to unit activities that enhance patient care outcomes. Successful completion of a six-month evaluation leads to advancement to Level II RN.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN).
  • Completion of the Nursing Practice Orientation Program.
  • 6 months or less of clinical experience post licensure.
  • Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers).

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Nursing preferred.
