The Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE)/Alternate Level of Care Unit (ALC) – West 4 is a 36-bed unit specializing in geriatric medical patients with both acute and non-acute needs. The unit focuses on providing compassionate, patient-centered care to older adults with complex medical and ALC needs. It operates with an interdisciplinary team in a welcoming environment that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life. The unit offers in-house rehabilitation, patient activities, and strong community involvement. The Level II RN is accountable for providing competent patient care based on established standards and the nursing process, under the direction of the Nurse Manager. This role may involve charge nurse or preceptor duties. The Level II nurse supports peers, uses effective team communication, and practices care that reflects patient condition and priorities. They also contribute to team problem-solving, identify opportunities for self-growth, support the development of other learners, and contribute to a safe unit environment.
