About The Position

The Registered Nurse at Twin Lakes Surgery Center, specifically in a Circulator role, is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care according to the nursing process. This role involves directing, delegating, and coordinating all nursing care provided by other staff members such as LPNs, CNAs, Patient Care Companions, and Unit Clerks, ensuring consistency with their roles, responsibilities, and skill levels. The nurse is expected to perform assignments appropriately to the age and developmental level of the patient population being served.

Requirements

  • RN – State of Florida
  • Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Completion of general and nursing orientation.
  • Completion of unit orientation and unit-specific competency checklist.
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Certifications as required by the specific unit/area (Refer to required certification addendum).
  • Completion of annual competency based learning modules [CBL’s]
  • Excellent communication skills are needed in dealing with physicians, patients, family, and other disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient on admission and assess and monitor on an ongoing basis.
  • Assess patient/family learning needs.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Document assessment data on admission and on an ongoing basis.
  • Plan and coordinate care based on assessment of the patient’s status and ongoing identified needs.
  • Involve family/significant others in the plan of care as desired by the patient.
  • Initiate individualized teaching plan on admission to ensure positive outcomes and timely discharge.
  • Implement supportive and rehabilitative nursing care according to identified patient needs.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Initiate and verify physician orders.
  • Utilize nursing judgment in the provision of care.
  • Evaluate patients/families response to interventions and progress toward desired outcomes.
  • Organize patient care based on patient needs and available resources.
  • Serve as the patient advocate by providing compassionate nursing care, individualized to meet the special needs of each patient.
  • Identify priorities for care of assigned patients.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with services provided by ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate professional development, accountability, and leadership in the performance of their professional nursing practice.
  • Adhere to Cornerstone standards and hospital mission and values at all times.
  • Report to work when scheduled (Refer to Attendance policy).
  • Maintain a professional appearance that demonstrates a positive image (Refer to Professional Appearance Expectations policy).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and act in an ethical manner at all times.
  • Follow legal and ethical guidelines in providing nursing care.
  • Maintain competencies and continue development of professional/clinical knowledge base through continuing education.
  • Assist with staff orientation and professional development.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Support research and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Administer medications according to established policies.
  • Comply with patient safety goals and programs.
