About The Position

A hospital in Panama City is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Freestanding Emergency Department. This facility is recognized for its advanced specialty services, including the region's only Pediatric ER, Level III NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation, and Advanced Primary Stroke Care certification. The FSED RN provides comprehensive emergency nursing care using the full nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work independently within scope, and consistent collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team. The position emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, and high-quality emergency care delivery, while also supporting staff development and adherence to unit-specific competencies within the freestanding emergency setting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of recent acute care Emergency Department RN experience (within the last year required)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited program required
  • Current Florida RN license required or active multistate compact RN license
  • If holding an out-of-state compact license, Florida compact RN licensure required within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner license may be considered
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS – American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required within 30 days of hire
  • Strong critical-thinking, emergency response, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct emergency nursing care using the full nursing process
  • Perform rapid assessment and ongoing monitoring of patients in a high-acuity setting
  • Exercise independent clinical judgment appropriate to experience and scope of practice
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Integrate current research and best practices into clinical decision-making
  • Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
  • Report significant medical errors, safety concerns, or unexpected outcomes per protocol
  • Participate in peer support and contribute to team development and competency maintenance
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
