About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Canton-Potsdam Hospital provides patient assessment, care planning, and direct treatment using professional nursing care processes. Care is delivered in a patient- and family-centered manner consistent with nursing licensure and regulatory scope and standards, as well as established hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, including weekends.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school program.
• Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license.
• BLS certification upon hire; if the certification is not from the American Heart Association, obtain AHA certification within one week of hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN from an accredited nursing school program.
• National certification.
• TNCC certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify patient and family needs.
• Develop and implement comprehensive plans of care involving patients and families.
• Provide and document direct patient- and family-centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.
• Identify and respond to patient conditions to achieve positive outcomes.
• Perform discharge planning to ensure safe and appropriate transitions of care.
• Direct and delegate care provided by unlicensed team members.
• Provide customer service to patients and families.
