About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Acute IMC Unit, working full-time, 36 hours per week, on a 12-hour night shift with weekend and holiday rotation. The role reports to the Director and requires providing bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care for various health conditions. The Acute IMC Unit is a 30-bed unit caring for high-acuity patients across complex specialties, often requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support. The unit is equipped with two negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms. An on-site Nurse educator is available, and an Acute/Critical Care course is offered for nurses new to the acute, in-patient population. A $13,000 New Hire Retention Bonus is offered to external applicants who meet minimum requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
  • Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and family throughout their stay and in preparation for discharge.
