About The Position

This 30-bed unit provides care for high-acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties. Comorbidities are diverse and patients often require cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support. The unit is equipped with two negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms. An on-site Nurse educator is available, and an Acute/Critical Care course is offered for nurses new to the acute, in-patient population. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate the passion to provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill population of patients, possessing the knowledge and skill to safely apply the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate the care of patients with various health conditions.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN preferred
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
• Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
