About The Position

The Registered Nurse on 7 West Medical Oncology manages care for patients experiencing medical conditions or undergoing surgical procedures. The role includes assessing patient condition, administering medications, changing dressings, monitoring vital signs, maintaining records, and providing support and education to patients and families. Nurses use a broad knowledge of medical care to support a diverse patient population. The 700 West Medical Oncology unit has 17 rooms, mostly private, and cares for oncology, end-of-life, and medical-surgical patients. Registered Nurses administer chemotherapy, assist with symptom management, provide end-of-life care, and collaborate with other medical disciplines to support patient care and outcomes. The unit uses current technology, including a virtual nursing program, and offers continuing education to help nurses stay current with best-practice guidelines.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN-approved program.
Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Missouri.
Obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective leadership abilities.
Time-management skills.
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility and ability to work in a multitasking environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Previous nursing experience.
