About The Position

Good Samaritan University Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The nurse provides care for highly acute and critically ill patients, working with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction. The role also includes advocating for patients and building meaningful relationships with them and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education. The position requires at least one year of experience in a MICU or another critical care unit, experience reading cardiac monitors, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. An associate degree may be considered if the candidate is enrolled in an accredited BSN program. A New York RN license and registration and Basic Life Support certification are required.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit or another Critical Care Unit, such as SICU, ICU, CCU, or CTICU.
Experience reading cardiac monitors.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree; an associate degree will be considered if the candidate is enrolled in an accredited BSN program.
New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.

Responsibilities

Assess and monitor highly acute and critical patients.
Administer medication, document patient progress, and manage overall patient care.
Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, registered nurses, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.
