About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Allegheny General Hospital’s Float Pool Team 2 Med Surg/Tele is responsible and accountable for a designated patient population, providing care through the nursing process. Float Pool nurses cover areas of Allegheny General Hospital based on their specialty and clinical expertise. The role offers exposure to varied patient types and levels of acuity, and nurses may mentor and precept other nurses.

This is a part-time, union position requiring 32 hours every two weeks, with rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays according to policy.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of acute-care nursing experience in Med Surg/Tele.
• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure or current multistate licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate clinical assessment and care-planning skills.
• Provide safe and effective care for the age population served in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Professionally direct and manage patient-care delivery activities performed by team members.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and carry out the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and families and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
• Mentor and precept nurses.
