About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). As an IMCU RN, you’ll provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients requiring close observation and specialized nursing support. You’ll play an essential role in monitoring complex conditions, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring a smooth transition for patients between critical care and general medical-surgical units. The IMCU is a 24-bed unit that provides care for higher acuity patients in neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal. Typical patients include respiratory failure/congestive heart failure, chronic trached ventilator patients, stroke and seizure patients, MI cardiac patients, Renal hemodialysis, and post-op surgical patients with extensive wounds such as decubs, VAT's, ortho, and ostomy. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
