Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown)
About The Position
Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), also known as Stepdown. As an IMCU RN, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients requiring close observation and specialized nursing support. You will play an essential role in monitoring complex conditions, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring a smooth transition for patients between critical care and general medical-surgical units. The IMCU is a 24-bed unit that provides care for higher acuity patients in neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal. Typical patients include those with respiratory failure/congestive heart failure, chronic trached ventilator patients, stroke and seizure patients, MI cardiac patients, Renal hemodialysis, and post-op surgical patients with extensive wounds. Sentara Obici Hospital is a magnet-designated facility committed to teamwork and quality healthcare. We offer unique Transition to Practice and Nurse Residency programs for RNs with less than 12 months of experience or those transitioning to a new practice area, including general nursing orientation, specialty clinical tracks, professional development sessions, and mentoring.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required experience
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process.
- Practice assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
- Demonstrate ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
