About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care using evidence-based practice, and contributes to improving care quality through collecting and analyzing data. This role is in the 12-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, which cares for patients with serious cardiac and vascular conditions requiring highly skilled nursing care and continuous monitoring. Patient populations include post-operative open-heart surgery patients, patients undergoing complicated vascular surgery, patients receiving targeted temperature management after cardiac arrest, and patients with specialty devices and therapies such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary pacemakers, TandemHeart devices, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, titratable IV medications, ventilators, sedation, paralytics, vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous renal replacement therapy. The position is part-time at 0.6 FTE, or 48 hours per pay period, with 12-hour rotating shifts, every third weekend, and holiday rotation.

Requirements

Associate degree in nursing.
Active Wisconsin RN nursing license.
Current BLS certification, or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
Maintain specialty certification according to the department's scope of service.
ACLS, PALS, or NRP certification may be required based on the primary department.
Ideally, at least three years of RN experience in a comparable setting.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Specialty certification desired.
