About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides critical care to pediatric cardiac patients in the Pediatric/Cardiac ICU at Ascension Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role includes hemodynamic and continuous cardiac monitoring for patients recovering from heart surgery and patients with congenital heart defects, as well as care for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients requiring advanced mechanical and pharmacological support. The nurse manages post-surgical recovery, collaborates with cardiologists and surgeons, and provides family-centered care.

Requirements

• Indiana Board of Nursing Registered Nurse credential required prior to hire or job transfer.
• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at the time of hire.
• One year of cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Full-time day schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Pediatric open-heart experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform hemodynamic and continuous cardiac monitoring for post-operative pediatric heart surgery and congenital heart defect patients.
• Manage ECMO, VADs, and complex vasoactive infusions for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
• Provide post-surgical critical care, managing ventilators, pacemakers, chest tubes, and invasive lines.
• Partner with cardiologists and surgeons to deliver family-centered critical care.
