About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role is in the 3 South MedSurg department at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham and is scheduled for part-time day shifts. The nurse implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient conditions, coordinates care among disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and works with the healthcare team on discharge planning.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
