About The Position

Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in an acute health care setting. The role is in the Emergency Department at a freestanding emergency department and operates within a department staffed 24/7/365. The RN is accountable for nursing practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing and delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

In accordance with department policies and nursing care standards, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients. The position requires a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio and/or a current Registered Nurse license in good standing with a multi-state compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• BSN required by five years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessments, as applicable to the patient population or individual.
• Documents planned nursing interventions based on nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems to achieve outcomes appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluates and documents patients’ responses to nursing interventions and achievement of outcomes at appropriate intervals.
• Revises the plan of care based on evaluative data as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Participates in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
• Performs operational responsibilities.
• Delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel according to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
• Maintains a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while performing job duties.
