About The Position

The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is hiring Registered Nurses for vacancies across multiple units and clinics, including outpatient mental health and behavioral health programs, residential rehabilitation, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, home-based and telehealth care, caregiver support, community nursing and non-institutional care, homeless services, primary care, med/surg/telemetry, the emergency department, float pool, quality and patient safety, education, informatics, and other specialty areas. This is an open continuous announcement through December 31, 2026; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and qualified applicants may be referred as vacancies become available. Staff Nurses provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care to ill and injured veterans. They document observations, assessments, and changes in patients’ conditions; collaborate with health team members to support positive care outcomes; and provide a full range of nursing care to patients with varied physical and behavioral needs. Nurses are accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements for their assigned grade. The role calls for strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to assume leadership in a patient-centered program, and respectful, civil service to patients, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary colleagues. Nurses are expected to lead by example, foster a customer-service culture, and work with customers to develop solutions to meet their needs. This is a 24/7 hospital environment, and schedules and assignments may require flexibility. Some positions require rotating tours or indefinite work on non-administrative tours, as established by the immediate supervisor. Telework is not available, and the position is not virtual. Relocation and recruitment incentives and permanent change of station are not authorized. The announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies.
