About The Position
As a member of this specialty unit providing critical care services, the PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of post-anaesthetic patient care.
Requirements
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification
- Peri-anaesthesia Nursing Course
- Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in PACU nursing
- Demonstrated knowledge of anaesthetic techniques and procedures and their implications for nursing assessment and practice
- Demonstrated knowledge of post-anaesthesia assessment and management of adults, including airway management, invasive cardiac monitoring, pain management and invasive pressure line monitoring
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, patient care environment
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
- Subject to CPO examination
Nice To Haves
- Current certificate in vascular access skills preferred
- Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the assessment and management of patients with acute pain preferred
