About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides clinical oversight and support for hospital patient throughput, inpatient discharge, and post-discharge outreach. The nurse monitors discharge readiness and appropriateness for patients waiting in the Discharge Hospitality Center, completes discharge paperwork in the Electronic Medical Record, removes medical devices such as IVs and telemetry equipment, and educates patients. The role collaborates with case managers, physicians, direct-care nurses, and other care providers to support patient safety and understanding of discharge instructions and timing, while identifying barriers to throughput and discharge. The nurse facilitates post-discharge communications with UC Health patients, provides education and guidance on health needs and patient questions, and follows up on concerns raised. The role also analyzes throughput information, helps plan capacity and discharge activity, and participates in performance-improvement efforts related to capacity management, care progression, discharge planning, and patient outreach. The position is part-time, day shift, and represented by ONA.
