About The Position

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit-3 East. This is a full-time, night shift position (7p - 7a). New graduates are welcome and will receive a $7500 Sign On Bonus. They will also be enrolled in Sentara’s dynamic 6-month Nurse Residency Program, designed specifically for new graduate RNs with less than one year of experience. This immersive program combines practical skills with hands-on training, professional development, and mentoring, empowering you to confidently transition into your nursing career. The 3East - Intermediate Care Unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General enjoys a supportive team environment and nurse patient ratio including a unit based nurse educator, team coordinator and manager. The unit has an active Partnership council and is currently involved with the hospital Magnet redesignation journey. All new grad RNs receive a 10 to 12-week clinical preceptorship as well as enrollment in the Transition to Practice Program. The patient population on this unit may include: sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac, trauma, post op, substance withdrawal, diabetic ketoacidosis.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Less than one year of experience (for Nurse Residency Program eligibility)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit.
  • Participate in the Nurse Residency Program (for new graduates).
  • Engage in clinical preceptorship and Transition to Practice Program.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team environment including nurse educator, team coordinator, and manager.
  • Contribute to the hospital's Magnet redesignation journey.
  • Care for a patient population that may include sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac, trauma, post op, substance withdrawal, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
