About The Position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit. This 24-bed unit provides a dynamic and supportive environment for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced setting that bridges critical and acute care. The unit cares for patients with complex medical needs requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, while fostering strong interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth. Primary diagnoses include CHF, COPD, MI, CKD, AKD, and Sepsis. The unit utilizes several drips including dobutamine, milrinone, dopamine, Lasix, heparin, and nitroglycerin. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5. New graduate nurses are welcome to apply and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support their transition to practice.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities
