About The Position
The Detroit Medical Center Registered Nurse is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for the satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. The position is on 4 West, a cardiac telemetry unit caring for acutely ill adult patients with a variety of diagnoses. The collaborative team supports patients with chronic illnesses and acute conditions and aims to provide safe, reliable, quality care. The unit promotes professional nurse advancement and offers ACLS and arrhythmia/EKG interpretation training. RN ratios are 1:5 with acuity-based assignments, and the PCA ratio is 1:8.
Requirements
- Graduation from a school of nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
- Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
- Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
- Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
- Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
