About The Position

Registered Nurses in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at St. Cloud Hospital care for patients of all ages before and after surgery. In the pre-operative area, RNs help prepare patients for surgery and ensure they are safe to go to the operating room. After surgery, RNs work with surgeons and anesthesiologists as patients wake up, helping ensure they are stable before discharge or transfer to a hospital room. The PACU is a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking, flexibility, and adaptability. The part-time schedule is 48 hours every two weeks, Monday through Friday, with day and evening shifts of 8 or 12 hours and various start times. The role includes approximately every eighth weekend, approximately two holidays per year, and occasional night call.

Requirements

Graduate from a nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in Minnesota.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within three years of hire.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 12 months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 12 months of hire.
Ability to think quickly and be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in an ICU, CCU, or PACU setting preferred.
Critical care experience in hemodynamic monitoring preferred.
Basic EKG interpretation preferred.

Responsibilities
