RN - Emergency Department, UH
About The Position
UW Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The department provides Level I trauma care for adults and children and includes a Burn and Wound Center. Its facilities include 40 adult acute care rooms, 11 pediatric rooms, three multipurpose procedure rooms, three behavioral health safe rooms, three major trauma rooms, and a pediatric resuscitation room. A CareSTART area opens during peak times to expedite intake, with a nurse and physician seeing patients on arrival so care can begin immediately. This position is 60% FTE, with eight 12-hour evening/night shifts in the schedule and primarily 8-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. The schedule includes every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Hours may vary based on department operational needs. Compensation may include applicable evening and night shift differentials and overtime.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of RN experience.
- Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the Nurse Licensure Compact, required upon hire.
- CPR certification, required upon hire.
- ACLS certification within 6 months.
- PALS certification within 6 months.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- At least 1 year of ICU, critical care, or emergency department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations.
- TNCC certification.
- ENPC certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency department nursing care to adult and pediatric patients, including critically ill or injured patients.
- Work scheduled evening/night shifts, including every other weekend and a holiday rotation.
