About The Position

The Registered Nurse will work in the Emergency Department at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The department provides Level I trauma care for adults and children and includes adult and pediatric acute care rooms, procedure rooms, behavioral health safe rooms, major trauma rooms, and a pediatric resuscitation room. The Emergency Department also has a CareSTART area that helps expedite intake and begin patient care sooner. This is a 60% FTE position with evening/night shifts, primarily 8-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Hours may vary based on department operational needs. The schedule includes every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Shift differentials may include $4 per hour for evening hours and $5 per hour for night hours, as applicable. Overtime may also be part of compensation. Requirements

At least 6 months of RN experience.
Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the Nurse Licensure Compact.
CPR certification upon hire.
ACLS certification within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
At least 1 year of ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations.
TNCC certification.
ENPC certification.
PALS certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department to adult and pediatric patients, including critically ill or injured patients.
Participate in patient intake and care in the Emergency Department, which may include the CareSTART area.
