This position is for the night shift in the Walk-In Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associates Nursing Degree from an accredited school or a Waiver approved LPN by State of TN.
  • RN Preferred.
  • One year of behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
  • Licensure required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Performs basic electronic medical record computer skills.
  • Detail oriented with effective problem solving skills.
  • Possesses leadership skills.
  • Knowledge base in psychotropic medications.
  • Skill in crisis intervention.
  • Ability to de-escalate patient/clients using evidence-based de-escalation training (e.g. Therapeutic Options) to include safety holds as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to clients in crisis in the Walk-In Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit.
  • Provides medication monitoring and adjusts medications within limits prescribed by an authorized prescriber.
  • Provides information, education, and support to individuals in crisis to promote wellness and recovery.
  • Performs nursing assessments on individuals admitted to the WIC/CSU.
  • Monitors vital signs, performs lab testing, and evaluates medical appropriateness for admission and continued stay.
  • Obtains and enters orders into EMR from an authorized prescriber.
  • Administers medications to patients, monitors dosage, side effects, use, and documents patient reactions.
  • Provides medication training to the guest or guest’s family/guardian.
  • Develops and maintains the Treatment Plan of Care for guests.
  • Oversees the administering of nursing needs of guests.
  • Acts as a liaison between guest and the authorized prescriber, pharmacist, family, and/or collateral support systems.
  • Coordinates guest-staff assignment of care and provides shift change report.
  • Observes guests and provides documentation in the EMR.
  • Provides group or individual education as needed.
  • Participates in and/or leads staff meetings and training.
