About The Position

DaVita is hiring a FLOAT Registered Nurse to serve our dialysis patients and help manage our clinical teams in the greater Minneapolis, MN area. Dialysis experience not required. We will train you! After training is complete and you feel comfortable in the role, this RN position will float to our other outpatient clinics in the greater Minneapolis, MN area, within a 20-30 minute radius of your home clinic. A $2.75 Float Shift Differential is offered after training and while in the float pool. The operational hours are: Schedule: Work 3-4 days / week, 10 - 12 hours/day (every other Saturday, closed on Sundays!). This role includes extensive training: First 9 - 12 weeks of employment, group and 1:1 hands-on training. Training may take place in a facility other than your assigned home clinic.

Requirements

  • 12 months of Registered Nurse experience required
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N) from accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N); three-year diploma from accredited diploma program may be substituted for nursing degree

Nice To Haves

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Room (ER), or Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and performs direct patient care including but not limited to taking and monitoring vital signs, initiation and termination of dialysis, documentation, physical assessment of patients and patient treatments, taking and transcription of physician’s orders, drawing and documentation of ordered laboratory work
  • Provides dialysis therapy, including but not limited to formulating dialysis plan per physician orders, weight and rate of ultrafiltration, verifying safety measures are in place and complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments, discontinuing dialysis according to established procedure, documenting all activity appropriately
  • Analyzes patient assessments, laboratory data and, when concerns are noted, brings issues to the attention of the physician. Notes signs of trauma, patients’ general physical and mental condition, reviews dialysis orders, documents observations in patient medical records. Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related incidents to supervisor, Medical Director, Regional Operations Director, Facility or Group Facility Administrator
  • Assesses patient and family learning readiness and provides appropriate information on renal disease, prescribed dialysis treatment, and medical regimen and its impact on the patient’s state of health and well-being. Participates in the development and implementation of the patient’s short- and long-term plan of care and monthly progress note
