About The Position

Sentara BelleHarbour Emergency Department is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department! This is a full-time, night shift position (7p to 7A). The role is ideal for someone seeking a fast-paced, team-centered environment with daily challenges and meaningful impact. The Sentara BelleHarbour Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art, free-standing facility that operates 24/7 and serves as a licensed extension of Sentara Obici Hospital. It features 22 treatment spaces, including fast track rooms, 10 focused care rooms, and 12 high acuity care rooms. Nurses are specially trained to care for both adult and pediatric patients. As part of the Sentara network, the BelleHarbour ED offers strong clinical leadership, advanced technology, and a collaborative, team-focused environment. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
  • PALS required prior to completion of orientation
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • 2 years of Emergency Room Experience (Preferred)
  • Critical care experience in hospital preferred
  • 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse Experience preferred
  • Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
  • Communication with patients and providers

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
  • Ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
