About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Labor and Delivery Unit. The nurse provides clinical care, emotional support, and advocacy for patients during childbirth, working with a skilled team to support outcomes for both parent and baby. The role involves assessing patient needs, initiating appropriate nursing interventions, providing care suited to each patient’s condition and age, maintaining timely and appropriate medical-record documentation, completing and revising each patient’s Interdisciplinary Care Plan, and completing timely, accurate quality-improvement assessments. The position is full-time on the day shift.

Requirements

• Current state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 14 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience preferred.
• ASLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to the patient’s condition and age.
• Complete timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate quality-improvement assessments.
• Provide clinical care, emotional support, and advocacy for patients during childbirth.
