About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring a Registered Nurse for our ICU. This is a full-time night shift (12-hr shift) position in Charlottesville, VA. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates. The unit is a mixed Critical Care (ICU) 15-bed and Step down (IMCU) 5-bed unit, featuring 15 private rooms with Phillips monitoring and state-of-the-art Hil Rom technology. The unit serves a broad range of patient conditions including neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, and surgical patients, with support from a palliative care team. Critical care NP/PA are on-site 24/7, and nurses provide valuable input during daily interdisciplinary rounds. Registered nurses can expect a 1:1 or 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio and a 12-hour shift schedule with rotating weekends. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a primary plus stroke center, providing care based on American Stroke Association guidelines. Specialty highlights include ventriculostomy monitoring, NICOM, balloon pump, transvenous pacing, and CRRT. The hospital has a low RN turnover rate and high patient satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • NIH certification within 6 months of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire, preferred prior to hire
  • 2 years of acute care experience preferred
  • 18 Months of Critical care experience preferred
  • ICU experience or Capstone preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Apply the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
