About The Position

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This full-time night position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for well-qualified applicants. The role involves providing direct patient care, performing interventions, documenting care, monitoring patient conditions, assisting with daily living activities, collaborating with the healthcare team, and educating patients and families. The ICU unit fosters a culture of mutual respect and teamwork, where experienced and new nurses work together to provide the best possible care.

Requirements

  • Current Tennessee or compact state RN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
  • Associate's degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year previous experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
