About The Position

This position will provide as-needed coverage on both days and nights. The teammate is required to work one 12-hour shift per pay period (every 2 weeks) and may work additional 12-hour shifts as available and able, based on unit census, patient acuity, and staffing needs. Call Requirements: On-call utilization will remain based on unit census, patient acuity, and staffing needs. Teammate will be the first to be called off or placed on-call compared to full-time teammates, and will be the first to be placed on-call or canceled, except in events of other teammates being in overtime or scheduled to work an incentive shift.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures; serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
