About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Olathe, KS. The role involves 12-hour night shifts, working 3 shifts per week from 1900 to 0730. The RN will care for patients with a ratio of 3:1 to 4:1. Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, drawing labs, and working independently without a vascular access team is required. The role also includes caring for open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires and conducting own codes. The facility is a nicotine-free environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing labs.
Ability to work independently without a vascular access team.
Capable of calling on own consults and conducting own codes.
Experience with open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires.
Current KS RN or Compact RN License.
BLS Certification.
ACLS Certification.
NIH Stroke Scale Certification.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
Manage patients with a 3:1 to 4:1 patient ratio.
Administer care to patients requiring BiPAP, chest tubes, and PICC lines.
Draw labs as needed.
Work independently without the support of a vascular access team.
Call for own consults and conduct own codes.
Care for open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires.
Float to ICU and all inpatient units such as Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED, provided prior experience in these areas.
Work every other weekend.
Work one major holiday from each group: Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday, Christmas Eve or Day, New Year's Eve or Day (two of the three major holidays required).
